lifted hands

The other day during worship at a church service, the worship leader brought in the idea that there is something so special, unique and holy about raising our hands in worship – when else do we raise our hands?

This reminded me of kids when they are young, they raise their hands to reach up to their parents.

They know their parents/caregiver will comfort them – there is safety in their arms. Having a child reach their arms up to be held, is almost a form of surrender. They know that what they want they cannot get on their own. Their parents/caregiver will take care of their needs

Isn’t this what happens in that intimate place of worship? By lifting our hands, we are surrendering all. We cannot accomplish this life on our own, nor were we meant to. He is our provider! He wants to take your anxious thoughts, He wants help you process the world around you, He wants to help you plan that wedding (if you know you know).

** I need to take this moment to just recognize that I am getting so pumped while typing this out, that I am making MANY typing errors because my fingers aren’t moving as fast as my brain **

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand” Isaiah 41:10

I am going to choose to lift my hands in surrender; to reach up to my Father knowing that he will provide all that I need. He will help us! Read that again, He will strengthen us! He is with us! He is our God!
